Text (English translation)In response to a writ dated 14 October 1382 to the Sheriffs of London requesting details of cause of detention of John Kyrton, John Marche and John Thorne, the Sheriffs respond that these three men were arrested and placed in Newgate because they were said in the presence of William Walworth lately mayor of the city and his fellows justices to have perpetrated certain misdeeds in the time of the insurrection and remain in custody for that reason.
