| Text (English translation) | Somerset. John Sydenham of Bridgwater appeared through William Pentrich, his attorney, against John Hentone, John Sopham, Thomas Engleby, Nicholas Fromptone, clerk, Walter Tamit senior, carpenter, William Whelere, weaver, Ricard Bercorne, John Blake, John Canonn, sheath-maker, John Stone, weaver, Roger Gandre, John Perchelond, tailor, Richard Lange, Andrew Skynner, Thomas Pouchemaker, John Kelly, John Hare of Huntspill[?], John Godred, John Brueror, tanner, William Sadelere, John Brente of Glastonbury, William Pulter, tailor, William Fychet, Henry Skynner, Thomas Hendy, Nicholas Ionesseruant, pollarder, John Cruylle, Matthew Porter, Adam Forthred and John Alrigge, shipman, on a plea that with force and arms they broke the closes and houses of the said John Sydenham at Sydenham and Bridgwater, and took and carried away his goods and chattels found there to the value of 100m, and also two chests with the charters, writings and other muniments contained in the same chests, and other enormities. And they did not come. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them etc. And the sheriff reports that both the aforesaid John Hentone and John Sopham are attached by John Hunt and William Miller. Therefore, they are in mercy. And the sheriff is ordered to distrain them by all lands and revenues and produce them here at the quindene of Michaelmas 1383. And regarding all the others, the sheriff reports that they have nothing etc. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered to arrest them and produce them here at the aforesaid term etc. |
