| Text (English translation) | Norfolk. Margaret, who was wife of John Elys of Great Yarmouth senior, appeared through Henry de Lesyngham, her attorney, against John Waveray, Thomas Maget, Thomas Waveray, Robert Waveray, Thomas Bollard, Richard Crispyng, John Wathys, John Stanyene, Reginald Hardekyn, John Ryngware, Robert Tolyour, Robert Pyteyn, John Wattes, John Phelips, William Lystere, Adam Walter, Robert Synyole, Adam Hermer, John Peddere of Happisburgh and John Tynkere on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close of the said Margaret at Brumstead, and they took and carried away her goods and chattels found there to the value of £10, and burnt charters, writings, rolls, rentals, obligations, acquittances, muniments and other memoranda of hers found there, and other enormities etc against the peace etc. And they did not come. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them. And the sheriff reports that the aforesaid John Waveray and Thomas Maget are attached etc namely the aforesaid John Waveray by Thomas Mylde and Henry Hunt, and Thomas Maget by John Man and Thomas Date. Therefore, they are in mercy. And the sheriff is ordered to distrain them by all lands and revenues and produce them here at the quindene of Michaelmas 1383. And regarding the aforesaid Thomas Waveray and the others, the sheriff reports that they have nothing etc. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered to arrest them and produce them here at the aforesaid term etc. |
