Thomas, bishop of Ely, appeared through John Pain, his attorney, against John Reymond, Robert atte Chirche, Thomas Pollard, Thomas Chamberleyn and John Wympole of Sutton, John Reve, John Richer, Henry Reve, Robert Tubbe, William Smythe, John Renchened, Henry Shermone, Thomas atte Church, Robert Longe, Henry Joseph, Henry Yonge, John Lakynghoche, Robert Courtgamene, William Webstere, John Wake junior, John Elersone, Stephen Yonge, John Pelle, Henry Warner, Richard Barre, Stephen Perye, Stephen Haryelle, John Gilberd, Thomas Barre, Stephen Poppe, John Croyser, John Glovere, Richard Geffrey, Thomas Coupere and Stephen Palfreymane on a plea that with force and arms they broke the closes and houses of the said bishop at Ely, and burnt rolls, rentals, muniments and other memoranda of his found there, and other enormities etc and against the peace etc. And they did not come. And the sheriff was ordered to attach them. And the sheriff reports that the aforesaid John Reymond, Robert atte Chirche, Thomas Pollard, Thomas Chamberleyn and John Wympole are attached by Robert Wympole and John Pollard. Therefore, they are in mercy. And the sheriff is ordered to distrain them by all lands and revenues and produce them here at the quindene of Hilary 1383. And regarding the aforesaid John Reve, John Richer and all the others, the sheriff reports that they have nothing. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered to arrest them and produce them here at the aforesaid term etc. Cambridgeshire. Thomas, bishop of Ely, appeared through John Pain, his attorney, against Simon Berle, Robert Sannt, Robert Redere, William Milnere, William Smyth, John Rede, John Reynalds, Richard Colstone, William Tary, John Jewe, John Peronn, Thomas Cok, Robert Karseye, Alan Karseye, William atte Wode, John Webstere, William Bramptone, John Tilneye, John Gillessone, John Holond, Robert Skymere, Andrew Mayke, John atte More, John Hamond, John Williamssone, Catyssone, John Beche, John Wysebeche, John Leche, herdsman, John Skynnere, Robert Pakerelle, William Josephe, John Drenge junior, John Cook and John Austyn of Chatteris junior, on a plea that with force and arms they burnt rolls, rentals, muniments and other memoranda of his found there, and they took, imprisoned and ill-treated Thomas Bernard, his servant there, and detained him thus in prison until the bishop had made a fine of 40s with the aforesaid Simone Berle, and all the others mentioned above, for the deliverance of the said Thomas Bernard, by which he lost the service of the same servant for a long time, and other enormities etc, and against the peace etc. And they did not come.
