| Text (English translation) | Essex. John de Argentem, knight, plaintiff, by his attorney John Sumpter, appears against Thomas Griffeld of Aldham, William Polheye of Fordham, William atte Ree of Aldham, John Meryld of Fordham, John Bogidy of Aldham, smith, John Cappere et John Forweyn on a plea that with force and arms they broke the close of the said John de Argentem and burnt his court rolls and other muniments they found there. And other enormities etc. And against the peace etc. The defendants do not come. The sheriff was ordered to attach them etc. And the said Thomas, William, William and John Mereld is each attached by John Broun and Adam Estman. Therefore they are in mercy. And the sheriff is ordered to distrain them by all there lands . And to report about the profit etc. And the sheriff should have their bodies here on in the quindene of Hilary ... And of all the others the sheriff reports that they have nothing [by which they can be distrained] etc. And the sheriff is ordered to arrest them etc. ...
