Text (English translation) | Essex. John Duk by Richard Waltham his attorney, plaintiff, appears against John Edward, John Ayleward, Richard Punte, Walter Terlyng, John Godwyn of the county of Essex, John Reynes, John Peroun, John Brid, John Frensshe, John Malepette, William Wryghte of Widdington, Henry Clerk, Robert Mathey, Robert Shepherd of Widdington, Geoffrey Freman, John Warde, John Dryvere, and John Freman, defendants, on a plea that they together with Thomas de Wydyton, John Rust and Jacob Wodeward, with force and arms broke the close of the said John Duk at Widdington and burnt charters, deeds, court rolls and other muniments found there and other [enormities] etc. And against the peace of the king etc. As before the sheriff is ordered to arrest them etc. And that he should have their bodies here at the day namely in the quindene of Hilary. And the sheriff now reports that they cannot be found. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered that writs of exigent be issued against them from county to county, and unless they appear, they are to be outlawed... And to have their bodies to be in court here the day before St Martin. The same day is given for the aforesaid Thomas de Wydyton, John Rust and Jacob Wodeward to attach them etc. At which day the sheriff does not sent the writs. Therefore, the sheriff is ordered to issue writs of exigent in the above form etc. So that he has their bodies here in the week of Trinity. THe same day is given as above for the aforesaid term etc. |
