Text (English translation) | Essex. John Bromwych, knight, plaintiff, by his attorney John Dymmok appears against Robert de Mepeshale, defendant, on a plea that with force and arms he broke the close and the houses of the said John at Felsted and took and carried away the his goods and chattels found there worth £20 and he burnt a chest which contained his charters, deeds and other muniments and [he committed] other enormities etc. against the peace etc. He does not come. As before he has been distraint by chattel worth 12d. And he is mainprised by John Scot, William West, John Spicer and Robert Clerk who are in mercy etc. And as before the sheriff is ordered to distrain him by all his lands etc... And that he has his body to be in court here in the quindene of Hilary. |
