Text (English translation) | Blofield, Walsham, Taverham [hundreds] Inquisition held before William de Ufford, earl of Suffolk, and his associate justices of the lord king assigned to inquire about every evildoer and disturber of the in the county of Norfolk, by oath of John la Vyelye, John Letyz, Thomas Borel, John Mascal, John atte Ryde, John de Spanye, Adam Kydeman, Godwin de Holm senior, Stephen Iryng, Adam Lomynour, Peter Aldewyn and John Lay, jurors, who say upon their oath that Richard Fylmond of Buxton was a common riser [in rebellion] and agent at the time of the rising against the crown and the dignity of the lord king and against the peace of the same king, to the damage of the king's people. And that Thomas Gentelhomme of Buxton did likewise. And that Thomas de Suffolk of Scottow and John Wattes of the same did likewise. And that John Bettes of North Walsham did likewise. And that Robert Wodehewere lately dwelling in the city of Norwich was one of those who killed Robert de Salle, knight. And that Geoffrey Lystere of Felmingham, killed by the bishop, and John de Tronch burned charters and muniments of the prioress of Carrow at the same time. |
