Text (English translation) | King Richard, etc., to the executors of the testament of William de Ufford, lately Earl of Suffolk and one of our justices, assigned to castigate and punish certain rebels who recently rose together against our peace in the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk. We order you that all indictments, records, processes, rolls and memoranda that were of the late Earl at the aforesaid time, along with original writs and all else touching the same, before us in chancery distinctly and openly, and also safely and undamaged without delay, and deferral may you cause to come so that we may proceed in the matter as rightly and according to the law and custom of our kingdom England ought to be done. Witnessed by us at Westminster the thirteenth of May in the fifth year of our reign. |
