Text (English translation)South Erpingham Court session at Cawston John Bacoun junior and the other jurors of the aforesaid hundred present upon their oath that William de Belhous of Aylsham together with other evildoers on Monday 17th June 1381 feloniously killed and beheaded Reginald de Eccles at Norwich. Also they say that Henry Reys of Dilham on the aforesaid day and year feloniously killed and beheaded Robert de Salle, knight, at [the Hospital of St Mary] Magdalene next to Norwich. Also they say that on Friday 14th June 1381 at Swanton Abbott, Scottow and elsewhere in the county of Norfolk John Gentillomb, Richard Filmond, Thomas Suffolke of Swanton and John Wattes of Scottow were common insurgents and they rose the people in revolt and they made proclamations from village to village in the name of Geoffrey Lystere against the lord king and the dignity of his crown. Also they say that William Hokent, chaplain of the parish of Scottow, feloniously killed Hugo Avelyne, constable of Great Hautbois on Thursday 27th June 1381 at the time of the great uprising. Also they say that Richard Bemud of Bradfield and Adam Pesakre, chief burner of various muniments together with other evildoers on Saturday 22nd June 1381 at Aylsham burned the court rolls and other muniments of the sacristan (sexton) of [the Abbey of] Bury [St Edmunds] to the grave damage of the same sacristan and against the peace of the lord king. Also they say that William Curteys dwelling in Brampton on Friday 21st June 1381 at Burgh next Aylsham burned the court rolls and other muniments of William de Ufford, earl of Suffolk, pertaining to the manor of the aforesaid Burgh to the grave damage of the same earl and against the peace of the lord king. Also they say that John Gildene of Heydon together with other unknown evildoers on Friday 21st June 1381 at Heydon rose in rebellion and rode against the peace of the lord king, and he burned all muniments of John de Brewes, knight, pertaining to his manor of Heydon. Also they say that Laurence Sedeman and Robert de Shotesham on Friday 21st June 1381 at Scottow and elsewhere raised the people against the peace of the lord king. Also they say that John Gildeneye of Marsham together with other evildoers on Friday 21st June 1381 at Irmingland assaulted Joanna, wife of William Hestyngs and seized all muniments of the same William from the aforesaid Johanna and destroyed them against the peace of the lord at the time of the rising etc.
