Text (English translation) | Plomesgate The jurors say that on Monday 17th June 1381 John le Dene, peddler, feloniously and maliciously decapitated William Frances of Melton in Ipswich, against the king's peace. Also that Thomas del Heth of Hazelwood on Monday 1st July 1381 threatened the life and limb of Thomas Essegot of Friston in the village of Snape, to the extent that the said Thomas despaired of his life. Also that Thomas Thurston of Parham on Thursday 20th June 1381 threatened the life and limb of Walter Colvyle and John Waryn of Parham in Parham, to the extent that the said Walter and John despaired of their lives. Also that Thomas Sampson of Harkstead led a great company in the county of Suffolk to raise the people against the peace and will of the king, rising in oppression of the people in the fourth year of King Richard's reign, in tarnishment of the crown. |
