Text (English translation) | Sutton - The jurors present that a certain John Skowder of Catfield was a common originator of such deeds and was a burner of books at Hickling and Ingham. And that a certain John atte Chaumbre of Potter Heigham was a burner of books at Sutton, Hickling and Ingham. And that the same John was an accessory to the killing of Reginald de Eccles on Monday 17th June 1381. And that a certain Alan Dickys of Potter Heigham was a chief burner of books at the manors of Sutton, Hickling and Ingham. And that a certain John Levyssone of Sutton was a burner of books at the aforesaid manors. And that a certain Robert Capun of Ingham was an accessory to the burning of books at Sutton and Hickling. And that the aforesaid John Levysson was a common robber of goods and chattels of men in the country. And that William Fleggard of Sutton junior did likewise. And that a certain Dionisius Roys of Dilham was an accessory to the killing of lord Robert de Salle, knight, on the aforesaid day and year. A certain Thomas Levysson of Sutton was an accessory to the burning of books. |
