Text (English translation)Royal writ (dated 8 October 1381) to the escheator in Cambridgeshire, Ralph Wykes, ordering the release of the goods and chattels, all land and tenements of Geoffrey Cobbe in Wimpole, Orwell, Croydon, Papworth, Harlton, Wrastlyngworth [in Orwell] and Arrington which Simon de Burgh confiscated because of Geoffrey's treasons and insurrections.

On 8 August 1381, the keeping of all the lands late of Geoffrey Cobbe in the towns of Wimpole, Orwell, Croydon, Papworth, Harlton, Wrastlyngworth [in Orwell] and Arrington had been committed to Simon de Burgh, by mainprise of Sir John Gildesburgh and John Kyngeston of the county of Cambridge, said to be confiscate and forfeit to tghe king on account of Geoffrey's treason and felony, to hold the same for three years from the date of confiscation if tghe keeping remains in the king's hand so long: Calendar of Fine Rolls, 1377-83, p. 265.
