Text (English translation)Hundred of Shamwell Inquisition held at Maidstone 4th July 1381 before Thomas Holand earl of Kent and the king's justices into various uprisings and assemblies against the king and his people, by oath of Walter Iosekyn, Thomas Iosekyn, John Martyn, William Bocher, Robert Smyth, John Rolff, Peter Elys, Sampson Yonge, William Palmere, John Hykeman, John Bereham and John Odham, who say that Matthew Delhay of Frindsbury and Adam atte Rede on 9th June 1381 at Frindsbury made various uprisings and assemblies against the king, and with others unknown feloniously tore down the house of Thomas Seyntalbon against the king's peace. They say that John Clerk of Thong on 7th June 1381 with others unknown feloniously tore down the house of William Topclyve at Maidstone. They say that Roger Boye of Ickham on 14th June in London feloniously killed three Flemings whose names are unknown. They say that John Bery of Southfleet on 10th June 1381 feloniously killed John Godwot at Borden.
