Text (English translation) | They also present that John Payntour draper of London on 14 June 1381 with force and arms and with banner displayed entered the Abbey of St Mary Graces in Middlesex with other insurgents from the counties of Essex and Kent and compelled the Abbot and monks of the said Abbey to seize a foreign man in the chamber of the Abbey. The also present that Nicholas Wyttele and Robert Hull shipman of London on the said day and year with force and arms with the said insurgents entered the said Abbey and forced the said Abbot to send one monk with them to London to give possession of various lands and tenements of the said Abbot and convent. |
