John de Carleton forces Richard, vicar of Mattishall, to pay a fine
And that on Monday 17th June 1381, John son of Phillip de Carleton came to Mattishall with force and arms and against the king's peace along with many others unknown, and made Richard, vicar of the church of the aforesaid village, pay a fine of half a mark and more, by instigation of John Ladde.

The jurors present that John de Carlton came to Mattishall on Monday 17th June 1381 with others unknown and assaulted the life and limb of Richard, vicar of the church of Mattishall, and took from the same Richard 6 s. 8 d.
