Commission concerning attack on Barnwell Priory, Cambridge
Commission to Richard Lescrope, Hugh la Zouche, William Wyndesore, John de Burgh, knights, Roger Harleston, John Brunne and the sheriff of Cambridge, on complaint by the prior of Bernewell [Barnwell] that divers evildoers in the county of Cambridge at the procurance of his rivals came armed to the priory, disseised him of a garden, broke certain houses and a watergate, felled his growing trees, fished in his stews, carried away fish, timber and other goods, and compelled him to enter into a bond of £2,000 not to prosecute. They are to reinstate him, restore the bond, enquire touching all the circumstances, compel restitution, and certify their proceedings.
