Petition from Matthew Swetenham concerning the manor of Langdon Hall, seized by Richard Palmere during the rising
Matthew Swetenham requests a commission of enquiry directed to FitzWalter and others into Palmere's intrusion into the manor of Langdon Hall. He states the manor was held by Langdon in chief, and when he died without heir it was taken into the king's hands by Ewell, the escheator. Ewell held the manor for the king until, by the procurement of Palmere, Ewell was beheaded during the recent insurrection, whereupon Palmer seized the manor himself.
