An inquest into the right heir of the land and tenement (no details given) concludes that Walter, son of Walter Spitteboter is the right heir and of full age. Walter comes forward and asks to be admitted. He is admitted to a tenancy at will, pays 40d entry fine and swears fealty. 10/12/1404	Blackmore,Chelmsford Hundred,Essex	At the court in December 1404 it is stated that Walter Spetebotre surrendered a cottage and 6 acres customary land into the hands of Nicholas atte Ferne, a tenant of this manor, in accordance with the custom of this manor in the absence of Thomas Lorchon, bailiff of the manor, but in the presence of John Reygnald, another tenant of the manor; when 'he [Spitteboter] hastened to his death' he gave the cottage and the six acres together with appurtenance to the use of Margret who was his wife. The lord grants the said cottage and six acres with appurtenance to Margret for life at the will of the lord for all ancient services. Margret pays the entry fine of 40d and swears fealty.
