Petition from the collectors of the clerical subsidy in the archdeaconries of Essex, Middlesex, Colchester and London
Details
The collectors of the subsidy granted to the King at his last Parliament at Northampton request that whereas they have collected part of the first and second payments, and because the commons of their diocese who are in arrears are unwilling to pay the residue the collectors have pursued them by censure of holy church so that they have now been excommunicated for over half a year, that the King and Parliament account with them for what they have received and acquit them of the rest.
