Details | William Walworth, mayor of London, having heard rumours of the planned uprising by the men of Kent and Essex, sent John Horn, Adam Carlyll and John Fresch, citizens and aldermen of London, into Kent on 12 June 1381 to negotiate with the rebels. They met the rebels at Blackheath, and John Horn, against the command of William Walworth, incited the rebels of Kent and Essex to enter the City of London and to break the prison of the Marshalsea. |
