Details | [The jurors] also say that John de Coventre of King's Lynn, bowyer, on Sunday 16th June 1381 at the time of the uprising and rumour sent a letter to Nicholas de Massyngham at Hilgay in order that he might send £10 in silver to the same John at the town of King's Lynn, or otherwise he would lead and send there a society of 200 men which had risen against the lord king's peace, to kill the same Nicholas and tear down and set fire to his houses, wherefore the aforesaid Nicholas in fear of his life and the devastation and destruction of his goods and chattels and his houses sent the certain £10 to the same John at the town of King's Lynn, the which £10 the aforesaid John took, against Nicholas's will and against the lord king's peace. |
